Interview with "Art Takes Time Square" artist Rushane Bennett

The Harlem Diva LOVES art work.

It's important to me to see fresh, new, up-and-coming artists. Rushane Bennett, (hailing from Portmore, Jamaica, currently residing in Bronx, NY) is one of those brilliant young artists. At the ripe young age of 21, he has been able to transform his artwork from basic sketching (which he calls "doodles"), to mastering graphic art, and recently he began working with water color and oil based paints to create wonderful artwork that truly moves the soul.

Rushane's work was recently showcased at "Art Takes Time Square" in New York City. Here is his work being showcased at the VIP After Party!

Out of thousands of entries, his work was one of those selected to be showcased in the event!

I had the opportunity to interview Rushane, and when I asked him what inspired him, he explained to me that his "family and his past artistic pieces are inspiration to him. He is also inspired by other young up and coming artists. He said "I know I can be better than what I limit myself to, and I always try to break that barrier". He is definitely an inspiration to those who want to challenge themselves to do what they know they are fully capable of!

Rushane says that the "love of art pushes me to do better", and you can definitely see the passion he has for his pieces within the work.

Here are a few of my favorite pieces by Rushane Bennett:

This piece is so colorful and vibrant, yet the eyes tell a story of struggle. Absolutely beautiful.

This pop art is so juicy. Those passionate purple lips just please my soul!

This is one of the first water-color paintings Rushane created...so vibrant, yet so reflective. Did I mention that this was one of his "first" water color paintings.....I'm impressed with his ability to use the paint in such a beautiful way when just starting out with it....

Rushane has created two personal pieces for me that I will use as illustrations in my new book! I am so in love with them, and can't wait to share them with everyone!

Rushane is one of those artists you just can't forget! I can't wait to see his artwork showcased in his own art studio!
